1. Pre-Installation Preparation
1.1 Verify that the product model matches the order and application requirements.
1.2 Inspect the packaging for damage. If damaged, carefully check the unit for any visible defects, dents, or loose components. Contact ABB customer service immediately if damage is found.
1.3 Confirm all accessories are included as per the packing list, which typically includes:
- Mounting hardware (screws, brackets if applicable)
- Connection terminals or plugs
- Installation template (if provided)
- Product documentation
1.4 Prepare necessary tools:
- Suitable screwdrivers (Phillips and/or flathead)
- Torque wrench (refer to specifications for required torque values)
- Wire strippers and crimping tools
- Level (for proper alignment)
- Electrical tester (for verifying power absence)
1.5 Ensure the installation location meets the environmental requirements specified in the technical datasheet, including:
- Ambient temperature range
- Humidity limits
- Protection from direct sunlight, moisture, and corrosive substances
- Adequate ventilation for heat dissipation
- Clearance for wiring and maintenance (minimum 50mm recommended)
2. Mounting the Device
2.1 Select a stable, flat surface capable of supporting the device’s weight. The surface should be non-combustible and vibration-free.
2.2 If using the provided mounting template, affix it to the installation surface and mark the positions for drilling.
2.3 Drill holes at the marked positions and insert wall anchors if necessary (for wall mounting).
2.4 Position the device on the mounting surface, ensuring it is level.
2.5 Secure the device using the provided mounting screws, tightening them to the specified torque (typically 2.5-3.5 Nm, but verify in product specifications). Do not over-tighten as this may damage the housing.
3. Electrical Connections
3.1 Ensure the main power supply to the installation area is disconnected before proceeding. Use an electrical tester to confirm no voltage is present.
3.2 Remove the terminal cover (if applicable) by loosening the retaining screws.
3.3 Refer to the wiring diagram on the device or in the technical manual to identify each terminal’s function (power input, signal inputs/outputs, ground, etc.).
3.4 Prepare the connecting wires according to the specified gauge (typically 0.5-2.5 mm²) and strip 6-8mm of insulation from the ends.
3.5 Connect the wires to their respective terminals as follows:
- Power supply wires (L and N) to the designated power terminals
- Ground wire (green/yellow) to the protective earth terminal (PE)
- Signal wires to their corresponding input/output terminals
3.6 Ensure all connections are tight and secure. Gently pull each wire to verify proper seating.
3.7 Organize and secure the wires using cable ties to prevent strain on connections.
3.8 Replace the terminal cover and tighten the retaining screws.
